A Hearty Toast

Most of her love is madly implied.
Unnamed, untamed, and unfolding inside

A skein of yarn & a scorpion are all that she brings me
I undo the knots & I clear my thoughts & hold on until it stings me.

Glaciers cracked & calved & crashed & sunk into her smile.
Lasers shot through P’s & Q’s & hearts they ran wild.
Go ahead & blush, if you must, I don’t mind at all.
With a blink she crushes butterflies & pins them to the wall.

Her rainy eyes, distracted by the things we have to say,
Knowing that, eventually, one of us must look away.
There is one line that cannot be crossed ever in this night.
Other than that we can chew the fat, & undress our hearts with wine.

Most of her love, impossible to hold.
Her room is filled with violins, tuning in the cold.

All of the sudden, a melody chokes you &
You don’t know where it comes from,
Kiss me inside of your unwritten songs, &
Sing me to sleep when you’re lonesome.

Someday when I am all the way gone, &
There’s nothing that will replace me,
Lace your fingers around your stems, &
With your thoughts, embrace me.

There is one line we cannot cross ever in this life.
Other than that, we can chew the fat, & bless our hearts with wine.
Other than that, we can chew the fat, & bless our hearts with wine.
Other than that, we can chew the fat, & bless our hearts with wine.
